We serve water damage restoration in Middleburg, about 66 minutes from central St. Augustine by SR 16 and the First Coast Expressway in normal traffic. That is more than an hour, the longest run in our Clay County coverage. What sets Middleburg apart is Black Creek: the community sits between its north and south forks, and in 2017 the county recorded a crest of 28.5 feet.

Black Creek's forks and the Irma crest

Plan around the creek. Clay County Emergency Management reported that both prongs crested at 28.5 feet on September 12, 2017, after Irma's rain met surge moving up from the St. Johns. Residents told Clay Today it was far worse than a 2012 flood. The county's 2017 count was at least 450 homes heavily damaged or destroyed, after about 14 inches of rain and gusts measured to 70 mph.

Creek floods stay for days, which changes the work. One South Prong home was left with a water line near six feet and sewage from a backed-up septic tank on the walls. After that kind of soak, we scope wet drywall, insulation and flooring for removal, then dry the framing to match unaffected wood in the same house.

Risk has not gone away. The county has used $787,000 in block grants to buy homes on Forest Drive, Lazy Acres, Halperns Way and Scenic Drive and turn the land into green space.

Water damage restoration in Middleburg, read from the North Fork gauge

Watch the gauge, not the sky. News4Jax reported that the National Weather Service and Clay County Emergency Management rewrote the impact statements for the North Fork gauge near Middleburg this year, and they read like a street map:

  • 15 feet: water reaches backyards on Hawk Haven Road, Lazy Acres Road and Redbug Alley
  • 18 feet: some Hawk Haven Drive homes are cut off and more Lazy Acres homes take water
  • 20 feet: many Lazy Acres homes flood, some with over 2 feet inside, and flooding spreads toward Main Street
  • 25 feet: Banks Road and Laurel Drive become impassable, and elevated homes begin to flood inside

Move early if your street is on that list. We cannot reach a home while those roads are under water, and a 66-minute drive starts only once they reopen.

Main Street's old houses and newer Blanding homes

Age your house before you judge the damage. Middleburg formed in 1851, and about 12,900 people lived in the community at the 2020 census under ZIP codes 32068 and 32050. The National Register's Middleburg Historic District covers parts of Main Street and Wharf Street, and many of the town's houses date from the Victorian era. Those frame homes dry very differently from a newer slab home off Blanding Boulevard.

Our 66-minute route and what you get

Know the distance. We come over the Shands Bridge and up the expressway, a toll road, so a closure adds time, and we will say so. Calls go straight to owner Dal Beggs, who runs the company with his son. If it is an emergency, ring whenever it happens. Other calls are welcome from 7am to 7pm.

If the creek is still rising, leave. Do not wait for us. Once it is safe, photograph everything before you move it.

We then assess the home and give a free estimate, without pressure. If you hire us, you get photos, a moisture map, equipment records and a written scope, and we can walk you through the steps of filing a claim if you decide that is right for you.

County permits and the road to Middleburg

Middleburg is unincorporated, so permits run through the Clay County Building Division, and flood review comes before the building permit. Clay County Utility Authority has its office on Old Jennings Road and says emergency staff take calls at any hour. Homes on septic along the creek have no utility crew to call, so keep off a backed-up system until the ground drains. FEMA's map update for the county is expected in Spring 2027, and the Town of Orange Park lists appeals through November 18, 2026.

We hold no reviews or photos from Middleburg yet. We can state coverage of Clay County, the roads above and that long drive. These two Google reviews speak to how we work, not to this creek.

What customers say

5.0 stars on Google from 8 reviews. Quoted as written.

“Dal and his son are so compassionate and truly care about the human and do everything in their power to help your house back to normal. They were punctual and even showed back up to the house with any questions etc, I was very pleased with them and would recommend them to anyone who wants someone honest in this industry that unfortunately doesn’t have many honest companies in it. Dal and his crew have a customer life with us anytime we need their services.”

“Highly recommend Dal and his team at 1 Call Restoration - great locally owned company. We had a pipe burst that flooded parts of our home - it was such a stressful situation for our family. Dal and his team were amazing through the whole process. They helped us get everything cleaned up and even helped us as we worked with our insurance. Super thankful for their expertise, quality work, responsiveness, and professionalism.”

Middleburg questions

What do the new Black Creek flood stages mean for Middleburg homeowners?

They mean warnings can start lower. The National Weather Service lowered minor flood stage on the North Fork near Middleburg from 16 to 15 feet and major stage from 21 to 20, effective August 27, 2026. At 28 feet, its impact statement describes historic flooding across the basin. Watch the gauge, and move vehicles and valuables early.

Should I go back into a Middleburg home on septic after Black Creek floods?

Not until the water has dropped and power is safe. Clay Today described one South Prong home where a backed-up septic tank coated the walls, so assume sewage. The CDC says to wear rubber boots and plastic gloves for flood cleanup and to throw out what cannot be disinfected, such as drywall and rugs. Keep children out, photograph first, and we will scope it as Category 3.
